I wanted to climb ND before this new storm with sleet and rain and who knows what else hit tonite. Drove to Mink Hlw and was happy to see several groups had been there over the weekend. I followed the 1st broken out path up ND, even though someone had brushed it over, this wandered every direction but up. Finally hit the 2nd groups trail and followed this to the summit, a long zig zaging course avoiding the steeps, but broken out.Thanks. No plans for Sherrill today, so I just headed back in the direction of the Hunter/Rusk col. doing what every bushwacker dreams of; going straight down over top of buried trees , rocks, roots, pricker/pickers, billions of nettles, sleeping snakes, spiders, blackflies, and bears, ledges, drainages, on an unbroken snow covered mt. A fast, fun trip down.

Nice! HauntedFox and I are looking at either Sherril or Halicott for Sunday, after the slop hits us, unfourtunetly. I'd ask ya how the snow depths were, but who knows what this storm is going to do. I can definitely see how that descent would be quick - quite steep in spots, but otherwise tame enough so it doesn't feel like a total out of control free fall.

If you're going to Halcott I might follow you up. I've got my eye on that one this weekend. If somehow I can get the ice to fall before the snow so I get a supportive crust with a grip on top of it the hike might not be too bad...otherwise it's going to be awful.
