Rocky Summit ,Maddy,Nicole, and Myself started this hike from the Neversink area at the end of Claryville rd. about 8:00 a.m. with temps.in the teens and cold windchills. It was just cool enough to keep from sweating. There was about 3"of powder at the start and up to 7" on the summits. The log crossing had lots of snow on it,so we decided to cross the Neversink River on a ice bridge that was ok until Nicole,Tony's young daughter went in over her boot. She quickly had a sock change ,and everything worked out well and we proceeded towards Donavans Bk. crossing several smaller tributaries on stable ice.Once across Donovans Bk.we followed it up aways and then headed towards the South side of Lone's summit and crested the ridge within 100 yds. of the canister. After signing in we took some pics from the view point. We then headed towards Rocky on a faint herd path occasionally getting tangled up in some blowdowns and thick Spruce but for the most part staying out of it.Once we signed in on Rocky we reversed course and headed back . This was Nicole's 33/35,with just a couple of required Winter peaks left to do,and 396/420 for me on the 35x12 grid.Everyone had a great time .

Sounds like a nice trip except for the wet foot...glad she was ok....I need those 2 but I must wait another month for my knee to get better...If everything is right I'll go on the club hike on 3/3...still stuck on 28/35..

Great job Nicole, Tony let me know when she is finishing and on what peaks. If I am around I would love to join in.

I had boot go in myself while crossing a few weeks ago. My gators kept the water from coming in from on top, and I only had a little toe seepage - and wow, that was might brisk! I can only imagine a full boot full

Good to hear there is some snow pack starting to build. Might actually get a chance to use the snowshoes this season!

Hey Ralph nice report. Was a great trip in true winter conditions with excellent company! Just love the Neversink area, really beautiful. Nicole just needs two more peaks! I've really enjoyed hiking and finishing up with her this past year or so. Like my three older boys, she started with Giant ledge when she was 3, but she'll be the first to finish the 35...Oh, and that log bridge definately needs a hand rail, or a net... something?

Rockysummit: I was thinking more like EZ-PASS.. I could use some spare hiking money...

Congrats to Nicole.. I guess we'll see both of you at the dinner in Kingston??? I'm prepared to try to set up 2 VfTT/AHP tables again this year although I know Dawn is not going to be organizing it since she'll be on the AT.

Hey Jay, I guess finding equipment in that remote area isn't enough? Hey cash in on the EZ pass idea, why not!...Thanks guys, I (we) should make the dinner this time.
