I just decided last night that I intend to head for Wittenberg and Cornell today, just a straight there and back. Hopefully no washouts along Woodland Valley Rd. The recent heavy rain made me think twice about going via the Moonhaw Rd/Dutchmans Path route, since you have to cross Wittenberg Brook twice that way. Also ruled out Kaaterskill HP, since there's probably a foot of standing water on the flats of the Long Path up there right now. Anyway I'm off. I'll check back in here later.

Can't provide that, but I can say it looked a bit high yesterday. In addition to that oh-so-scientific observation, there's this:

The esopus was running mighty well on saturday and sunday. The west kill as I reported in the HH forum was uncrossable sunday so I expect the drainages and rivers to be running pretty good for the next 5 days or so. More rains tonight into tomorrow too (Sunday into Monday).

With 50-60 MPH winds and 3" rain for Saturday(forecasted that is), This might be a good day to get out the lead weighted goretex if you plan on doing something fun.
And yes, the Mt tops were still white above 2800' at dusk tonite.

As of 9:30 this morning 10-28 I have 4" of rain in the gauge and it's still pouring.I was up on North Point and Stoppel Pt. yesterday and there was still some snow on the North slopes, not much though.Big difference a day can make. This rain will make some streams in the area very difficult to
cross.I may take some pics.later. This is the stream at Moonhaw at 2:30 p.m..10-28.6:30 a.m. Update:
Sunday-I can see snow in the hills and it's very windy.I will head out now and check out the snow on Ashokan High Point.I will have to wear a hard hat.:D
Sunday 4:00 There was about 1" of snow on high point

The Willowemoc was running really high on Sunday morning and deep puddles were in the cols on the Mongaup Hardenburgh trail. Fortunately, we didn't have to cross any streams on the ridge there...
