Am I theonly one that when looking at the view see the mountains as valleys and the valleys as mountains? No you are not alone. It looks that way to me also. I think part of the explanation is that maps that show mountains in relief traditionally show the shading towards the "bottom" of the map, or south side of the mountain. That is the reverse of satellite photos in the northern hemisphere, which will have the sunlight hitting the south side of the mountain (at least most of the time). The possible exception is the few weeks either side of the summer solstice when the sun does hit north slopes especially in the morning and evening hours). So satellite maps tend to appear reversed to what we are accustomed.
