Dominic and I are getting close but won't finish the 46 until August or September when he comes back from his summer in Lake Louise, Alberta. The lucky kid (lucky to have me as his dad that is!) will spend the summer working for a friend of mine out in Paradise. We were going to do a rush job and finish our 46 prior to his departure but my reasonable spouse convinced us to hold off until the he comes back. To set things up we will go for our 45th on tues. the 21st of June. I know weekdays are tough but if you're reading this you're invited on what will be a bit of a farewell hike. Dominic has been with me on just about every hike I've done in the Adirondacks and it will be strange hiking without him this summer.

Not sure I can make that hike, but................. Tell Dominic you found a NEW son to hike with and I'll just rent you Everest NBD to hike with this summer. And........... because I like you, I'll charge you very reasonable rates

In all seriousness, I know my day is coming too, and it makes me sad to think about.

You know I'm in for Tabletop. I may even see if I can pull my 10 year old son out of school for this climb.

That day has come and gone for us, unfortunately. Our youngest, a wonderfully skilled backpacker, who I went with on numerous trips, has now encountered "life", and is living in the hiking Mecca of Indiananapolis!

My exact itinery will be set by my son. I'm hopeful that he can make it all teh way to Marcy. However if we have to stop at TT we will. He is a pretty tough little guy, black-belt in Tae Kwon Do, Baseball catcher, and soccer defender. Like his father he doesn't always know when it is time to quit.

Just in case anybody decides to "get sick" in the immediate future myself, Dominic, Alistair and his son will be leaving the Loj tommorow morning at 7:30.

I hate to post this but I'm bowing out of this hike due to a certain youth flunking a math exam and having to spend the day tommorow preparing for a re-write wednesday. So it looks like we're stuck at 43 and 44 for the summer. :(
