Yeah, that was a while ago Tim. I remember thinking you were one of the original pioneers of that slide, as there was little info out there beforehand about Nippletop Slide.

No, I don't think I was one of the first. It was a great slide though and if the weather holds up, I'd like to do it again. Might go the conventional route too. We'll see.

I was there 10 days ago. Didn't climb it but went part-way up towards the headwall to take pictures of Colvin. (we were on our way to the base of Blake).

Now there is a small beaver pond that indicates you are at the base of the slide, which you can see 50 feet away through the trees.

I remember that from last time...... wasn't really a pond there, just a low lying wet spot.

Now it's a definite pond.

Might not be a beaver pond but may be the result of a pile-up of mud and débris from Irene.

That beaver dam was there for quite some time. I thinking I remember the trees being freshly cut somewhere in that '05-08 range because I remember whacking down the col between Blake and Colvin and coming up to it. I actually had a conversation about it with someone with the fact that Irene probably took it out. It looks like it did from the lower water level in, Neil's pics and I'm sure new debris was left along with a muddy crappy mess.

All those new slides and you're going back to Nippletop? Someone must need Nippletop and Dial I take it? :) If not the new Saddleback one sure would be hard to pass up. Bennies (I know you have done that one) but now goes right down to the John's brook and is real impressive also. You'll have a blast no matter what that's for sure.

So, is my memory failing? I don't remember there ever being as much water there. There was way less water in the creek on previous visits so maybe that explains it.
