I was thinking about camping at Santanoni TH on friday night , but if I recall correctly the Santanoni TH is not plowed and people use the Allen TH instead ? As anybody done some "winter camping" in this area before ? Have you encountered any problem ? Thanks.

When I drove by on Monday on my way to the UW trailhead to hike Marshall, the Santanoni trailhead had been newly plowed and sanded (as in that morning). Have no idea what it will be like later in the month though.

The Santanoni trailhead does occasionally get plowed, but it's not very high on the priority list. It seems like in winter the Upper Works and Allen trailheads get plowed regularly, but the Santanoni trailhead only gets plowed once every few weeks or so. I suspect that the Upper Works and Allen trailheads are maintained in winter by the town (hence the regular plowing), but the Santanoni trailhead is maintained by one of the local hunting clubs (hence the irregular plowing).

Keep in mind that the 150 foot rule applies to trailheads as well... plus I'm not sure that the Santanoni trailhead was included in the new state land purchase (it may still be easement across private property). If this is the case, it may be illegal to camp at the Santanoni trailhead even if you do hike 150 feet into the woods.

I believed they were designated sites like on Coreys and near the 73 at Santanoni TH, oops .
