They will - that happens occasionally when they're out all day hiking, or have a full house. But they always get back.
Annie and I will be there. :)
Plan on being there this year too

So how does it work? You come and hang out and hike with people? That the basic idea?

Yup. Hang out. Hike with people; don't hike with people; ski; whatever you feel like doing. Dish-to-pass gathering at the Ark Trail Inn Saturday evening. Loads of fun!
Between now and then there will be lots of posts about hikes, food, etc. Hope you can make it!

Hike with people; don't hike with people;
Perfect - but let me expand.
Hike with people, don't hike with people.
Drink with people, don't drink with people.
Eat with people, don't eat with people.
Hang out at the campfire, don't hang...oh well, you get the hang of it.
(Oh, and MuddyBottom's sake)
Clean up with people, don't clean up with people

Is there music? Like, if I bring my banjo, will there be those with guitars, voices, etc.?

Late at night the women all dance around the remains of the fire whether there is music or not. Music would be a nice touch...

ADKGurl and I will be in the area at that time - its the start of presidents week and we have the whole week off. However, it is usually a full week for us with other mountain related activities. We will know our schedule when the date is much closer and hopefully one or both of us can sign on for a winter hike.
I have been informed that while accommodations in the area are mostly full for the weekend (Brookside Inn, hostels ) that there is still room available at the Ark Trail Inn.

I'll very likely be up there that weekend, probably in the Dixes. I'm not sure where I'll stay yet, etc. but will try to drop by Saturday night if I'm in the neighborhood. For those that arrrange this gathering, do you need any kind of RSVP? I would bring food and/or drink to share, of course.
I've never been to the Ark Trail, but I assume there is a common area or lodge, etc. Is it cool if I just show up to hang out for a while after my outing? Also, how do you arrange which peaks need "summiters"?
I hope I can check it out this year. :)

Bump, with update: Now Mercy is booked, Scoots available.
Twenty percent of revenues will be donated to the Foundation. So a group of six for three nights would net over $100 for the Foundation!!

When will the peak list be getting a thread?

Yeah i secpnd that, I wanna go giant and rocky ridge
When will the peak list be getting a thread?
How about December 21st?
The sooner we start it the more work there is to do. As the date approaches people inevitably start changing peaks.

I'd be up for anything in the Dix or Sewards, I haven't been into either of these areas.

I now doubt ADK Gurl and I can make a showing. She has a busy schedule now that race season is in full swing.
Have a great time!

Just to mention, I'll be back for this event, I booked a few weeks ago at the Ark Trail Inn. I was the one that brought a bottle of Courvoisier to share with anyone who wanted to drink it.
I'll see you there, Snickers and Bryan!
