Saturday evening I set up camp somewhere near Donavans Brook , deciding this was much more secuded than the crowded Neversink. It was also the perfect spot to start and finish.
Sunday morning I started up the fishermans trail, enjoying the absence of nettles and bugs, along with the scenery. Above the turn towards Slide? I took a bearing and headed up towards Friday, the open woods soon becoming Spruce as I gained elv. Above the ledges I could hear a group off in the thickets, but didn't meet them until they summited a short while after I did. They were also coming from the Neversink, having done BC and Rocky the day before.I knew Will from a hike up Bearpen. Off to BC thru the spruce, mostly on herd paths, stopping at the view before summiting. Another bearing towards Rocky. This would be a straight on approach as I hadn't been across this stretch before and knew of no tricks to avoid the thicks. Thick it was but not unbearable. Again stopped at the view before Rockys cannister, where I heard voices. Another 2 coming from Table towards Friday.Knew Don from a hike on Hunter. From there to Lone I decided not to drop down and avoid the heaviest spruce, but instead went straight on my bearing, which I probaly won't do again unless seized by the urge to follow a true bearing . Stopped at the spring below Lone, and then up to the cannister where I ran into the first bugs of the day. I now regretted changing to shorts earlier. The bugs followed me down to my stashed gear and quit. A quick dip and cup of coffee and back to the Denning PA,where I again met the group from Friday. The PA which had been full the day before now contained only 6 cars, 4 of them ours.
Nice trip, easier than I expected. 5/27-28.

Sounds like a great trip. Wondering if you did any fishing?
