Heck, with all this rain this week here, the flooding in the ADKs and some stupid wedding across the pond, I thought I'd try to see if I can harvest some money from some trail and some place called "Money Brook Falls". With a name like that, I can probably stay at Blantyre* for 1 night (*at about $1100 a night). Left Hopper road in front of some cows, more interested in the next meal than the Blantyre on a blue sky warm day in the berkshires.. Follow an old woods road, past the dispersed campground 1/3 mile into the woods and follow the trail out to the falls. A few dicey stream crossings, though most of the major ones are bridged. The falls is pretty nice, take a few shots and make my way up to Wilbur's clearing and leanto.. About 5-6 tent platforms, a privy and a bear box, the place is deserted but I stop to eat some food before making my way up to Mt Prospect and then back to Hopper Road...

Nice day, saw not a soul, by the time I got back, the clouds have rolled in and the cows were MOooooooooing for some unknown reason..

Its called Money Brook because there was a counterfeit operation there in the early 1800's. Supposedly a few hundred feet below the falls. Where the AT gains the crest of the Prospect Mt ridge and bears north, was there anyone hang-gliding off of there? I guess its a good spot to take off, as I've seen people hauling the glider bags up the trail to that point.

Mrs H had me record the affair across the pond on DVR, so she could watch it at a more convenient time

Nope, I didn't see anybody out there today, there was three cars at the Hopper road trailhead but perhaps they were headed to Greylock...

Oh I did see a turkey hunter at the trailhead, Apparently spring turkey season started April 26th...

Maybe that's why the cows were moo'ing...

Money Brook Falls is a lot different than the day you and I hiked there. Remember that?

Yup, I remember taking a nap at the end of Hopper Road and not going to the march cataract falls from the Sperry campground. That may be another trip soon since I'd like to go see those falls as well! We got picked up by your sister(?), does she still live in the area? Should of heard the cows at the farm there, they were moo'ing up a storm when I returned...
