Went for another short hike up on Lenox Mnt today. I went in from where the gate is across Reservoir Rd. There is a gated road that runs southeast to a small reservoir, that I believe used to supply water to Stoneover Farm on Undermountain Rd. There is a campsite there that a local stable uses as a camping spot for their trail riding clients. From there I scaled the ridge to the south, and came out to an overlook, which has a gorgeous view of Lenox, including this view of Parson's Marsh.

Back around 1985, 2 other guys and myself went camping here in January. It was a full moon, and the thermometer got down to -20 that night. But we had a good time, and the view was fantastic all night!
From there I continued south off this ridge into the col between the vista and Baldhead Mnt. I remembered as a kid I found an old stone reservoir high up in the col. Sure enough, I found it where I remembered it being. My thought is that it was the water supply for another mansion on Undermountain Rd., Foothill Farm.
From there I continued up the col until hitting Old Baldhead Rd, which I followed up to its junction with Reservoir Rd. Not a long hike, but a great day to be bushwhacking. Surprised a hunter with a bow while walking along the ridge. He was glad my pack was orange and that I had a red bandanna on my head!
Driving home the back way by the Pleasant valley sanctuary, I stopped to see if I could find an old brick cistern. It supplied the water to the tanks on the top of Kennedy Park, that fed the fire control system. I had to navigate around a beaver pond, but it is still there;

While driving up West Dugway Rd., I saw a sign for the Baker's pond trail. I stopped to check it out. There used to be a small cottage there, that I remember as a kid had an old wind-up Victrola in it. The trail looped for quite a ways through the woods, at least a mile, and then came back to Bakers Pond. A nice little walk!
