If the last step involves deep frying in some sort of animal lard, that sound awesome.

That was before everyone filled up on poutine...I guess I'll skip my bean soup this year if we're going for a theme.
Canadian food only - who's bringing the seal flipper pie?

Harvested yourself, or commercially bought?
Just to provide some variety (how much poutine can a person eat, anyway?) I'll bring roasted Peregrine Falcon nestlings. Maybe also some barbecued Panda Bear filet mignon to accompany the nestlings. (we harvest the fliets and toss the rest).
It would be nice to use ivory cutlery instead of plastic this year too.

Neil, enough of this Panda and Falcon crap. Pandas are lazy and therefore greasy. You have 4 1/2 months to get up north and score us a Polar Bear. While you are up there spear a whale through the ice and have an assistant carve 75 sets of cutlery from the bones on the drag home. Ivory is soooo out, it yellows in the dishwasher, whale bone is the new Ivory.....

Who wants polar bear liver with their carrot juice? And a nice slice of raw whale blubber to go with it.

I prefer Ales to Lagers, but if it's Lagers we're drinking, the dryer the better. :drink:
I see that a lot of the poll choices have gone unchosen. Looks like there won't be much variety at the gathering.
Maybe we should start this thread all over again.

It disappeared too fast, though.

I bought a crock pot for last years gathering, haven't used it since then. Will try some type of stew, garlic rice and bagels

It's a lot of fun clubbing in Montreal. However, it can get expensive and you need to have the right look or the doorman won't let you in even if you are on the list.
I never have any trouble getting in because I'm so cool.

I guess I had best not fill up on 'trail crap' whilst doing Tabletop on Saturday morning. With Seal, Polar Bear, Whale, Flacon, and Panda on the menu I am seriously wondering how I am going to save room for poutine. If anyone sees me hogging on the steamed celery please remind me that there are other dishes to try and that I am not the only one who can't get enough steamed celery.

I seem to have gotten in on this thread a bit late, sorry. I noticed the choices seem to swirl around many non-native species (other than moose knuckles). I vote to keep things local with servings out of the weasel family...ermine, fisher and martin. Could throw in some bear balls as appetizers. I also know the whereabouts of a female mountain lion with cub (as of a couple years ago) that could offer a selection of parts as well...
Then again, I guess I don't eat much red meat, so the celery sounds good.

It's celery soup for me with a native twist for the more vegtable lovers.
creamed celery ( yum yum ), inner bark of yellow birch, indian cucumber, and some balsam needles with basil oil and cilantro for seasoning.

MG try pickling the indian cucumber roots. If you have a big patch in mind that you can harvest resposibly from you can make a real nice sweet pickle from them.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it or not but I make a mean poutine with homemade fries and nice thick gravy. I may even spring for the Quebecois style poutine with smoked meat... if I can make it.

Is there another food thread I'm missing or is the food thing a free for all bring what you want? :)
I could get out and hunt some squirrels by then. I'd have to find a Canadian recipy or just go Cajun.
