So I had a nice backpack planned until I get an urgent message from HOL....Cough.. cough.. sick.. sick...Wanna hike Monday?:D So I met Nancy at the Loj..7 AM sharp...Cool breezes and the promise of a blue sky day got us started quickly...Wright first....windy..almost cold, but with a warm sun just starting to warm the day up a bit...Quickly down and up.up.up to Algonquin...The views, spectacular of course..jacketed up in the wind...a quick snack and off to Iroquois. As reported earlier, some mud pits to tightrope around and over. Up over Boundary then down and up to Iroquois...More views and pics and soon we were picking out way down into the abyss towards Shepards Tooth....very cool trip...steeply down and steeply up..Different perspectives...We had decided earlier to retrace our path to save some time..beside we had dropped our packs on Iroquois:rolleyes:...Down and up again over and back to Algonquin..Stopping to chat w/ everyone who had followed us up...It was clearer than earlier in the AM and the views were endless...The trip down was a real knee pounder, but we kept a good pace...8 hours car to car..Not bad considering Nancy was dragging an anchor:D
Thanks Nanc---Great day!!

Ya know, seeing stuff like this really pisses me off when I am stuck doing fifteen hour doubles while you are out on my favorite range...... I swear, I really prefer partly cloudy days for photography days! The ever changing shots due to lighting and the in and out splotching of cloud formations, shadows, etc.; well done Bill. And your company was pretty hard to beat too. You sure got it rough pal..... :p
FYI: Taking this week off from hiking, but got any plans for the next? I MISS the Adirondacks like you don't even know, and colors are going to be great! Thinking about a Sewards, Santas, Upper or Lower Range loop, D/N/C/B.....something!!!! If anyone's bored, drop me a line!

Sounds like you had a great hike! You even got it done without a weather change! When we did W-Al -Ir last year we started under sunny skies, had a storm come in while we were on our way over to Iroquois, had rain until we got back and down to the Jcn with Wright. Back at the car it hadn't even rained!
Of course, this is motivation to return because we didn't get any views on Iroquois. Also, I didn't know you could keep going over Iroquois to the Shepard's tooth. Is there a herd path to follow? It kind of looked like it in your pictures. Also, could you have kept going to the Cold Brook Pass Trail, or is that pure bushwhack?

Great pics. Nothing like a crisp, clear day to be out on "them thar mountains." Did Nancy run that last half mile back to the parking lot?
