Forum Software Bug ?

If you go to the section called 'The ADK 100 Highest (http://www.adkhighpeaks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=37)' and look at the thread titled 'Poll: 2010 ADK 100 Highest Poll' you will see that it claims that I last posted there on 'Today 02:37 PM'. This is in fact, false. I was the last person to post in that thread (several days ago), but apparently the Forum s/w updates the 'last post' time when someone responds to the Poll.

This mightily confused my wife, because I 'posted' when we were on a hike, (the 'last post' date was different then), and I do not own a smart phone. :D

I asked a similar question (http://forums.adkhighpeaks.com/showthread.php?t=1650) when I first joined the Forum. It's a function of the thread being updated when someone votes on the poll, not just when someone comments on the thread. Since our search results show the last person to comment, not the last person to update the thread, you keep showing up.

So.... it's a bug or a feature? No doubt the vBulletin designer would call this a WAD: Works As Designed. They probably wanted to highlight the fact that someone had just updated the important poll results. No doubt they assume that some forum reader is hanging with baited breath on the poll results as data for some learned research effort. The "Last Post" info cannot reveal the last poll voter as some polls are anonymous. The continuing datum that Tom is the last actual thread poster is merely a burden that he must continue to bear for his efforts.
