This past Saturday 7/17/10 at around 8 PM, I saw some really interesting weather from the summit of Hurricane Mountain. Even though the photos I took were only taken with my iPhone, and it was quite windy and I was unable to keep totally still, I think they are interesting anyway and I thought it would make for the start of a good photo theme thread. The hike down at night in the rain, thunder, and lightning was also interesting :)

I was around Indian Falls at about 8pm and heard the thunder in the distance. We were hoping to make it past Marcy Dam before any weather hit, but the rain started just after the Phelps trail junction. Luckily, the lightning/thunder was farther away and it was only pouring when we crossed the Dam.
It is great to see these pictures after having been in the woods during this weather event.
This was on a fire tower, either Azure, St. Regis, Arab, or Bald, Laurie will correct me soon!

The black diagonal mass is just about the true color of the ominous cloud that was racing over us.

Here are a couple of ADK weather shots:
This is a monster sized lenticular cloud in Keene Valley:

Here is another lenticular cloud (though not as impressive) from the loj road after an ascent of Marcy: http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Fw-nauFWQ9U/SYj81rXwSvI/AAAAAAAADIE/5mkTzw7f6y0/Marcy%20027.jpg
This one here is an undercast seen from the Gothics Summit this past winter:

Some neat examples of Mountain Weather, though I must say the most dramatic example of weather I ever saw was from the Mount Washington Observatory when a severe thunderstorm rolled over the summit with a preceding shelf cloud.
