transfering video from a camcorder to the computer

Ok. Here is another question for you folks. I have an old camcorder that uses the tapes.
Yes, I know..get with the 21st century. Anyway.
Are there any cable attachments that I can hook up to the camcorder and transfer the images to the computer?
Or is it DVD time?

My daughter has an older super 8 video camera, so we wanted to burn some of her videos to dvd. We went to Best Buy, and the gentleman sold us a 'Pinnacle DVD Recorder", which is a fancy name for a cord that goes from RCA type plugs to USB. It also includes the software too. In 2008, it cost $50, but my guess is that you could find something less expensive out there.
