Brian only had to work a half day today and we needed a break from the house remodeling so we decided on a nice, short hike up Rattlesnake Mt.
Rattlesnake Mt is about 10 minutes from our home and today was absolutely beautiful, cool, clear, and sunny.
This starts out on an old logging road at a very gentle grade. The forest is a mix of pines and hardwoods, but mostly pines. The little forest critters were skittering about and chirpping away and some wild flowers are starting to pop up.
As we started to gain elevation the views were impressive. A great view of Long Lake and some small mountains. The top of the mountain is nice and rocky with some fun scrambles. Brian found some nice rocks to scramble up and couldn't keep the smile off his face. It felt great for both of us to be out in the mountains again; it has been a few weeks.
The views from the top were great, Giant and Pokeamoonshine to the west and Lake Champlain, Mansfield, Camel's Hump and other VT peaks to the east. We sat on top for a while enjoying the great views and warm sun.
Well, work at the house was calling, so down we headed.
Another great day in the mountains with my sweetie!!
Brian will post pics after he gets them loaded.
