With Judy fully recovered from strep we headed up to the Adk's Friday evening--Up early Sat to a cloudless sky and temps about 10 below we headed out from John's Brook about 8:30--very little snow to start w/-- better conditions on the trail as we gained elevation--Crampons went on just before the 1st Brother--some serious ice for a ways----It was a bright sunny day--the blue sky reminded me of the Canadian Rockies--Great conditions over the Brothers--just enough snow on the trail to soften the crampons--snowshoes could have been worn for traction, but with the hard pack it was more secure w/ the pointies--The day could not have been more perfect--bright sun that felt soooo warm in spite of temps that stayed in the low teens--and spectacular views that never stopped.

We hung out on the summit for a good 1/2 hour--hot chocolate and some serious sun. One group of 4 joined us as we were about to decend and we passed 1 more couple on the steeps--1 of whom was struggling up w/ snowshoes. The Slide Trail down was in good shape--good snow til lower elevations--Thanks to the guys at the warming hut for the hot chcocolate and laughs. Barebooted back to the car. We were passed by a group of 4 guys who had climbed the the right hand slide (Bennie's Slide ??) on Lower Wolfjaws--They were flying--We made the last 3 miles in an hour and they blew by us :whip: --
It was a Top Fiver for sure :) :)
