Nice day for a jaunt up WHP. Icy trail down low with a little snow, enough to bite with bare boots in most places (some slippery spots but most are navigable, my wife was very happy having miocrospikes on her boots!). A clear day with fine views during the second half of the hike. I enjoy the sharp variations in the forest, from open deciduous to dense stands of hemlocks standing 60 feet or so tall. Crossed paths with Mudhook and Doodles while we were on our way down - I suspect they had a beautiful alpenglow and sunset view.

No camera, so no pix:cry:

Skidoc, sounds like you a had a nice day enjoying the clear skies. It would be nice to get some snow to cover up all the icy and bare spots though....

Nice meeting up with you and Mrs.Ski Doc , again:) Would have liked to chat more, but we were on a mission.
Now that your ADK lists are done, time for some Cats?

So true, would love to get out and do some backcountry skiing but...

Let's all do a snow dance :D

Good to see you again as well. Hope the mission was accomplished. I told my son that we met in the Dix range but unfortunately he didn't remember. I think he just remembered the brush on the herdpath in his face for six or seven hours:).

I'd like to finish the cats in the next year or two but I usually go back to the mountains I enjoy so it may take a while. It's nice to have a 60-90 min drive instead of the 2.5-3 hours for the high peaks each way from the Capital District.

Nice meeting you both.

Did you guys make it for the sunset? The colors must have been great. I'm sure we'll cross paths again.
