Hi everyone. Here's the scoop - I need a photo for the back cover of my new novel. I have a couple of possibilities of my own, but they are only ok - not fabulous.

A FABULOUS photo would be vertical/portrait orientation, or easily croppable to make it so. It would be a quintessential illustration of a trail and scream "hiking" to anyone and everyone who picks up the book. Spring, summer, or fall, but propably not a winter shot. It would also, if possible, in some way feature either Bearpen or Lone. Must have no humans in the shot, and no structures. The photo will be against a warm brown background, with honey-colored text and salmon-pink colored text near it.

I wish I could compensate the photographer, but I have no budget to do so . Of course you'll get the photo credit, and all the Flammeus special homebrew you can drink at the book release party! As well as my undying gratitude.

For more info regarding this novel, you can check out the Honey Melon Fudge page on my website (http://www.heatherrolland.com/honey_melon_fudge) , or email me: haliagrace@hotmail.com. Or send me a friend request on Facebook.

I need to make this decision pretty quickly to keep the whole process moving along. Deadline Friday 1/22/10, 5 pm.

And thanks everyone. I know you have fabulous photos - I've really enjoyed looking at them over the past couple of years.

I'm sure someone will have a shot that will work for you. We have some wonderful amateur shutterbugs on our mountains. I've sent a few shots along to your e-mail. Don't think they're what you need but you never know.

TFR: needs to be Catskills - I received the ones you sent. Thank you! You get as much beer (porter, imperial stout or brown ale) as you desire.

Woolybear - Thanks - I got yours too, but haven't had a chance to look at them yet.

Alan - I have satellite internet... expensive and slow, buut at least not dial up! Got your emails - checking em out now.

Tony - I actually did go through my stash :eek::eek: - and I discovered that 1) I almost never turn the camera sideways; 2) my best shots are often of you beautiful hikers! and 3) my dogs are in almost every picture (or at least an ear, a blurry tail, half a snout...).

Bless you all for pitching in.

I am inundated with wonderful photos. I am so grateful, impressed, and honored that you all are so generously sharing your work with me. The truth is, I want to print all the photos out and frame them. Every single one is gorgeous and incredibly special.

Whatever else happens, I now have a new Catskill book idea brewing!!! Someone should publish a photo journey through the Cats. has it already been done?

I can't believe I have to go to work today. All I want to do is look at more photos.

Maybe for the book release party, I will display all the photos I've been sent - a little gallery exhibit along with the book celebration. I think I need a bigger house!
