But it's so good it can never be viewed too many times. Everyone should study it before venturing out anywhere near ice, especially during this warm winter. Perhaps it should be made part of a safety "sticky".

That link was a great post.
I have heard about the video about a year ago and tried to find it while I was hiking in the Flowed Lands last year. Each time I crossed the ponds to Cliff, Marshall, Redfield all I could think about was the worst case scenerio, just in case. Fortunately last winter it was winter and cold. This year I don't know if I would want to consider the winter route to Cliff, Redfield, Marshall. A great link to have young children to watch as well.
Thanks for the link....

For some reason it keeps starting and stopping. It's not my Media Player.

I experience the same problem that Skyclimber does. The voice starts several seconds before the movie. The movie shows a few frames up to the point where he falls into the water, then locks up for the rest of the movie. Annoying, but the text is sufficient to learn from. Still a valuable link. Nessmuk, does the movie run more smoothly than that for you?

DickDick, it runs just fine on my Mac on all 3 browsers I have. I tried it in Safari, Firefox and even (yuk) IE.

Cantdog's link comes up as a QuickTime movie all by itself within the browser. My linked version plays a window within a Discovery Channel web page. Both play through with video and sound.

Just watched the footage. Very interesting and well put together. We Winipeggers like to do that sort of thing. At Christmas we went to some friend's cottage and Dominic cut a hole in the ice and he and I went for a little dip. I have the whole thing on an .AVI file but it's something like 8 Meg. My face looks just like the guy's he goes in. What an intense shock! I did not let my (bare) arms freeze to the ice, nor did I wait 10 minutes.

Although I'd seen that video before on a link from VFTT, it is still worth reviewing every winter season to keep the information in my ever depleting brain cells.
Thanks for the link Julie.

Q. How many brain cells does one lose when falling into freezing cold water?
