On Tuesday.1/12. From Big Hlw, where we( Doodles, I) drove to the summer PA 19 degrees and calm. Up the trail to the Escarpment Trail Junction almost, slight bushwack , up to about the view point, back on trail, too early at the summit, found a nice rock( near where they throw the old signs) out in the bushes to watch the sunset. Clouds with snow below us blocked the colors. 10 degrees and 15-20 MPH wind. Found a rock to hide behind half way up Black Dome for 1/2 dinner, I , being from the rural part of the country, couldn't get enough of the valley lights all the way past Albany, dark towards my house. Summit Photo, 5 degrees and 15-25MPH winds. Trip over to TC was frought with branches, and dirty snow, maintainer needs to work on this section, just barely made it on a well broke out trail :). Summit, no views thru the spruce/fir tunnel, , too windy for candle light supper. ZERO degrees and no more stuff to put on. Time to book, Nice unbroken snow to about 3500' where someone had turned about. Gadzillion stars, one planet, very nice going across the Camel Parts, warm enough to spend a few minutes naming the consetelations(sp). From the top of the Camel, more great views , and a race down the mt to Barnum rd, 8 degrees and still windy .
Found a thermos on the way up BD, where someone butt slided down.
If you can ID, let me know, or I will give it to Doodles because it is more his color.

Soooooo. When are the Blackheads the Blackest????? :?:
After Dark. ;)
A real nice CAD hike for sure. Nice broken out trail with a inch or two of fresh snow for some cushion. It was definitly cold, but a real nice night with gusty winds at times and real calm sections also. As the night went on the stars got brighter as the intermitent clouds blew out. Camera was real finicky with the cold, but managed to snap off some shots. Not sure what they look like yet, will try to get them up tomorrow. Once again we thought the trailhead lots would be full of eager CAD hikers, but it was only us. Oh well, more mountains to ourselves. :D

Ha! Blame the maintainer and adding smiley faces won't make it less whiney! I think you all got lost in the dark up there as you were battling hypothermia....
But seriously, looks like a great trip and photo #9 George is especially beautiful as is one of the last one with the snow covered tree in the dark.

Sheesh, I think we'll have to report the maintainer to the TC.
Were the pillows fluffed??

It was a super highway up Black Dome right? I'll have to show my trail neighbor how it's done.:D

This is the answer to reruns on TV. I think the new shows come out in September. Until then we will have to continue CAD, at least until we complete the first round, then we will be rehiking. :D
