Just a quick note for anyone venturing out that way--the road has been plowed yet again with a good layer of snow over the ice. I drove to the summer trailhead in the VW Beetle today. I have good snow tires and managed the hills on the way out in 3rd (once in 2nd) gear. That said, I'd be wary if you don't have good snows or if you don't know your car's limits well (this is my 4th trip to the summer trailhead in snow). The other 3 cars at the entrance to the unplowed lot were 4w drive types. Seymour is retracked after the snow and wind as are, I gather, Donaldson, Seward and Emmons from Calkins brook (several people signed in today).:)
